Business

Exam Board: AQA

The A Level course enables students to develop useful skills in problem solving, decision-making and critical analysis that will help in higher education or a career. Quantitative skills count for a minimum of 10% of the overall assessment and students develop a financial awareness that will help prepare them for any future career

Business is front-page news. The way companies operate is under greater scrutiny than ever before, while TV programmes like The Apprentice and Dragon’s Den have raised the profile of Business to a new generation. The AQA curriculum enables students to engage with, explore and understand business behaviour and develop a critical understanding of what business is and does. In the first year of the course you will cover topics which look at leadership and decision making whilst looking more closely at ways to improve marketing, operational and financial performance. In the second year you will look at the strategic position of a business, human resource strategies and how to manage strategical change.

3 exams (2 hours each) All papers draw on material from the whole course and feature a range of question styles including multiple choice, short answers, essay style questions and data response questions and case studies.
